Cat Eye Powder | Magnetic Stick | Beauty BigBang Review

by - May 18, 2018

Hello Everyone!!!
Today I am going to review the Cat Eye Magnetic Powder and Magnetic Stick from Beauty Bigbang.
Before I review the product I just want tell how much I struggled to use this product. So far I have loved every single product from BBB. But with the powder, the struggle for me was real. When I decided to review this product I was hoping this powder would work in normal polish. So when it first arrived I excitedly tried it out and obviously  couldn't get the result in normal polish. So after trying and failing several times I went  to YouTube and saw tons of tutorial on how to use it. Sadly everyone used this powder in gel polish. Then I decided to give it a try on gel polish. Mind you I just have one gel top coat polish from Born Pretty which I never used and I didn't own a curing lamp (two weeks back.) But anyhow I painted black base on my nail wheel then added a coat of gel polish and leave for few days. Now you know gel polish doesn't dry until you cure it but if you leave it for few days it does dry just not 100% then I rubbed the powder, applied another layer of top coat and held the magnetic stick above it. And I was very happy to see the result because it worked. It wasn't as beautiful as the BBB website shows but I could see something. So I finally decided to invest on a UV Lamp.
Yes that hell lot of big lamp and it cost me 1500 bucks. The shop did had smaller one but it was 4000 bucks. I brought the cheaper one because I knew I am not gonna use it again. I honestly brought this lamp just for sake of reviewing this powder because BBB sites clearly states to use this powder in Gel Polish and I wanted to give a honest review.
So after being a proud owner (not now anymore) of UV lamp, I decide to give a try. I applied black base on  nail wheel , applied a coat of gel polish, cured it for 30 seconds and then rubbed the powder on it and applied a gel top coat once more, held the magnetic stick for as long as possible in same position and then nothing. There was no effect at all. I was disappointed  because I just spend tons of bucks for this experiment. I tried and failed several times. So I  watched YouTube tutorial again and keep trying. Nothing happen. Frustrating I know. Finally I asked for help on several nail community on Facebook that I am member of. Tiny Canvas ( A nail community on Facebook) the ladies there were very helpful and replied within few minutes.  They suggested a water based top coat might work which didn't. Finally someone suggested to mix the powder on top coat and then applied on black base and use the magnetic stick. AND IT WORKED. WOW!!!!! Yay. I was so happy and excited again. Mind you I used normal top coat. And I saw the effect. Feeling positive and I decided to give it go on my sister nails and then again nothing. I tried gel, normal polish everything everyone suggested but NADA.
I was so frustrated by this time I just decided to rubbed the powder on nails and review them. Because  well I  just couldn't get the result. And I have been trying this powder since last two weeks. I reached my limit. I decided I cant do it anymore.
So people today I am gonna show you images that I clicked when I thought I saw the effect and  a no effect version of the powder. I am reviewing Gold SKU: J6461TM-7C and Blue SKU: J6461TM-4C
As you can see the powder definitely works. I tried more of gold powder because I thought the effect was strong.
Blue powder with no effect. Isn't it gorgeous? It works as dual chrome I see blue and purple at times.
I am just too frustrated to do a swatch of gold powder on nails so here is on  nail wheel (Middle one) and you can see the effects of both sides as well.
Final thoughts: Yes I am disappointed but I honestly don't think its the powder's fault because I know it works. I just couldn't make it work all the times, if that makes sense.
Will I recommend it to anyone? Absolutely. I wish you guys could see the effect on real life ( Few times I manage to get one) My camera didn't do the justice.  I know for sure the powder works and its magnetic.
What the problem then?  I honestly don't know. I believe I did  everything right. I know powder works. May be this need more of professional knowledge? I never used anything Gel before then again I got most of the effect when I mixed the polish on normal Top coat.
Why Are you recommending then? Because this powder when worked is beautiful. I can see myself doing a beautiful galaxy nails with the blue powder (Not anytime soon though) and someone seriously needs to make them work and let me know what I am doing wrong :P
So thats it for today.. Hope you manage to read it till the end. And if you are wondering what happen to UV Lamp. I packed it on the box it came and locked it up on one of the cabinet because I am not gonna use it again and seeing it on table every time will break my heart. I could have buy more than 25 polishes. I am trying not to regret my purchase. Who knows may be I will give gel a try some other time.

  1. I am so sorry you struggled with this powder. Last year I didn`t have UV lamp, so I cured my nails in.. sun light in my garden. It worked perfect and for free ;-) But well, I live in a country with little sunny days, so this year I bought a lamp, but I paid something like $20 - it is ok for me, I`m going to use it no more than 5 times a year.

  2. Thanks for the honest review. It's interesting to see magnetic stuff coming back so strong, even in powders this time around.
